Wedding Wednesday :: Little White Dress Bridal Shop

Colorado Wedding Photography

With so many engagements happening during this season, I thought it would be great to introduce you to one of the fabulous wedding dress stores in Denver – Little White Dress Shop. If you are shopping for your perfect wedding dress, this is the place to go. If you have a friend getting married, send them here! Just being in this store made me want to get married all over again so that I could try on the gorgeous designer gowns.  Cate, the owner of the store, said that the designer gowns for 2012 are some of the best she has seen. I have to agree with her! I had the opportunity to interview Cate and share those questions and answers with all of you today.

1. How did Little White Dress Shop get started?
I am a romantic at heart and I have always LOVED weddings and wedding gowns.  For many years I studied (obsessed over!) bridal magazines and hoped to someday work in the bridal industry.  My dream finally came true when we incorporated the business in spring of 2007, and opened for business in early January 2008.

2. What makes your shop unique in comparison to other wedding dress shops in Colorado?

Little White Dress Bridal Shop specializes in providing a welcoming, comfortable, super friendly, and attentive shopping experience with a variety of styles of wedding gowns by designers previously not available to Colorado brides.  Making sure the day a woman finds her wedding dress is a life long happy memory is the foundation of how I run my business.  We have a GREAT time at the shop, and we love helping women feel their most beautiful on their wedding day.  I am also thrilled that now Colorado brides have access to such amazing designers as Claire Pettibone, Liancarlo, Sassi Holford, Jenny Packham and several others that were not available to Colorado brides previously without traveling to New York, London, or L.A. Our large selection of accessories – handbags, garters, jewelry, feathered flowers, headbands and other hair ornaments, also makes our shop unique from other shops

3. What type of experience will a bride have shopping for a dress in your store?

A bride shopping for her wedding gown at my shop will have her own oversized dressing room, her own seating and viewing area for friends or family, her own consultant who cares and listens and really enjoys helping, and a large, special selection of a variety of styles of wedding gowns and accessories that are different from everything else out there.  We are told many times every day that our brides have had the best experience ever in our shop.

4. Are there any creative trends that you see for the upcoming 2012 wedding season?

Fabulous shoes, hi-low skirts, hints of color, sashes, and accessories all contribute to the bride creating her very own one-of-a-kind look on her wedding day in 2012.

5. What’s the most popular style of wedding dresses right now?

The modified mermaid or fit-and-flare styles are most popular right now.  They can be so flattering on many different body types.  An hour-glass figure used to be covered up with an a-line silhouette, but now it is being highlighted with these really flattering, more fitted styles.

6. What awards and/or press have you received?

2011 Editor’s Choice Best Wedding Dress Shop, Brides Colorado magazine

2010, 2011, 2012 Best of Weddings, selected by real brides on TheKnot.com

2010, 2011, 2012 Bride’s Choice WeddingWire.com (awarded to only the top 5% of all Wedding professionals!)

2010 Editor’s Choice, Best Wedding Gowns, 5280 Magazine Top of the Town

2009 and 2010 Favorite Place on Google

7.  What do you love most about your job?

I love helping women feel beautiful, I love giving them a beautiful and fun place to find the most important dress they will ever purchase, I love giving my staff a great place to work, I love being a locally owned and operated business, and I love the opportunity each and every day to be the best that I can be. I love being involved with the Colorado bridal industry.  I have met some of the most wonderful people!  I love that I have worked very hard and have created something that I am proud of. I love having all these gorgeous wedding dresses around me every day, and I love getting goose bumps when you’ve got a bride in the most amazing/perfect dress for her and she looks and feels like a million bucks!

8. What is one interesting fact about you?

Three things – I was a single mom for 18 years, I have climbed half of the states 14,000 foot peaks, and I ran my first marathon at age 40!

Wedding Wednesday :: Sapphire Celebrations

Colorado Wedding Photography
Meet two women who promise to make your wedding day – the day you’ve been dreaming of since you were a little girl – into a reality. This week’s Wedding Wednesday interview features one of the very best wedding and event planning companies for Colorado weddings – Sapphire Celebrations. It is a unique company that was started by a mother and daughter team. Meet the two extraordinary women who are a gift to brides all around Colorado – Pamela and Angela.

Colorado weddings at the Broadmoor

1. How did Sapphire Celebrations get started?
We planned Angie’s wedding in 2004 and even her Day of Wedding Coordinator could tell that this was her calling. Having planned corporate and philanthropic events and some weddings for friends, this was the catalyst to starting the business. After research, the business was officially formed in July of 2004. Using both of our business and sales backgrounds we’ve been able to take Sapphire Celebrations to the top!

2. What exactly do you offer to brides?
We hold true to our company tag line – Making Your Vision a Reality. Sapphire Celebrations’ coordinators pride themselves in working with our clients to ensure that their wedding day is the perfect reflection of the vision they have for their big day.

3. Are there any creative trends that you see for the upcoming wedding season?
Overall guest experience is very important (and will continue to be) to our clients. They want to make sure that their guests enjoy every aspect of the celebration. This starts with the Welcome Bag that greets them when they check into their hotel room and goes through the late night snack and after party at the end of the night.

4. What’s the most extravagant wedding you’ve ever done?
Each wedding has its own extravagance – it just differs based on the style of the client. We recently did a wedding at the Broadmoor that included every possible aspect a wedding can. There was a string quartet for the ceremony, the groom’s band played during the cocktail hour, guests enjoyed stations of delicious food, stopped by the photo booth, enjoyed custom s ‘more treats and danced the night away to the tunes played by the DJ.

5. What are the benefits of a bride hiring you as a wedding planner vs. DIY?
Offering full service and day of packages, Sapphire Celebrations’ clients get to pick the level of involvement they have in their wedding planning and the work that goes into pulling the day together. No matter their involvement, even DIY brides should have a Day of Wedding Coordinator to ensure that all their plans come together perfectly on the wedding day.

6. What are some of the many publications you’ve been featured in?
Throughout the years we have been honored to have our weddings featured in many print and online publications. Some of the highlights are Martha Stewart Weddings, Style Me Pretty, The Knot Colorado, and Couture Colorado.

7. What areas does your company serve in Colorado? Do you do destination weddings?
Sapphire Celebrations serves all of Colorado, planning weddings in the Denver Metro Area, Colorado Springs, and Estes Park and throughout the Rocky Mountains. We have planned many Colorado destination weddings, where the couple and their guests have selected the beautiful backdrop of Colorado to be the location of their wedding.

8. What do you love most about your job?

Working with clients to unearth their true wedding vision that reflects the style of the couple is one of my favorite parts of my job. There is nothing more satisfying than to have a client walk into the reception space just before the guests and say, “This is exactly what I envisioned!”

Read what a Keystone, Colorado bride had to say about her experience with Sapphire Celebrations.

I can’t say enough about how fabulous Sapphire Celebrations was for my wedding!  They were ready to go with ideas and advice before I even hired her! I truly know that my wedding would not have been the wedding of my dreams without Sapphire Celebrations.  They came through with the perfect vendor recommendations that truly fit what we wanted for our special day.  As for the day of the wedding, I could not have done it without you.  I didn’t even have to think about anything but enjoying the day, knowing that they were there to oversee and get everything set just the way I wanted.

You can find Sapphire Celebrations on Facebook, on their Colorado Wedding Planner website, or email them directly for more information or to book them for your upcoming wedding or special event.

Colorado Wedding Photography

Today is Wedding Wednesday where I interview other wedding vendors who also do Colorado weddings and who are on the cutting edge of style and in high demand by those planning Colorado weddings. Today I am so excited to introduce you to an amazing Colorado Wedding Floral Designer, Sarah, from Ladybird Poppy. Her style is very fun and unique and she will cater to each bride’s personal tastes and ideas. Not only that, but she is also an incredible person, and if I were a bride, I would love to work with her just so that we could become friends! To contact Sarah for your own wedding floral design, feel free to visit her website, find her on Facebook, or email her at ladybirdpoppy@gmail.com

1. How did Lady Bird Poppy get started?

Ladybird Poppy launched February of 2009, after I was exposed to 10 years of working at a handful of local floral shops in Colorado. My latest position as a designer at the Inverness Hotel, made me realize how much I loved to design. Particularly for events and weddings. Due to the economy, I was laid off at the start of 2009. Friends and family strongly encouraged me to stick with design and possibly start my business. As I began thinking of a name, a friend quickly sketched my logo and another built the website. Being at the age where many are getting hitched, I rapidly booked out the summer and autumn events within a few months. This is where it all began and I love it!

2. What exactly do you offer to brides?

I offer a unique style that combines a vast variety of floral. Not your typical daisy and rose. I enjoy incorporating flowers that you may have never heard of paired with a color that you’d originally think may not compliment. Ensuring new ideas and solid designs that will make your event pop.

3. Are there any creative trends that you see for the upcoming wedding season?

Lanterns seem to be the hit this year. I’ve found a few fun ideas with floating lanterns for outdoor, evening weddings. Or lace doily glued together, originally around balloons to give the shape for a unique lantern idea.

4. Are there any publications you’ve been featured in that you would like to brag about? Or awards?

*2009 2nd Place Peoples Choice Award at Rocky Mountain Floral Association Design Competition + List member
*Featured on Denver Public Library Website for Design Workshops offered at various DPL locations throughout the year
*A-List Florist on Couture Colorado
*Couture Colorado Wedding Blog
*Mile High Bride
*Photo De Novo Photography Blog
*Flourish Studio Photography Blog
Currently a main designer at the Brown Palace Hotel – on call, part time position

7. What areas does your company serve for Colorado weddings? Do you do destination weddings?

I serve Metro Denver + extended Colorado mountain towns, including Vail, Aspen, Steamboat Springs, etc. I am willing to go anywhere to design for a wedding whether it’s in another state or out of the country!

8. What do you love most about your job?

I LOVE designing specifically geared toward my client’s personality. This way, the design is made unique to who they are and not duplicated with any other event I design for.

9. What is one interesting fact about you?

I’m currently obsessed with Pinterest. So many incredible inspirations!
