A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to travel from Denver back to my hometown. While I was there, I had the opportunity to meet little Bronson Michael. His mom, Kelsey, was hoping that we could do a newborn photography session while I was home, but Bronson’s due date landed right in the middle of my trip. Our fingers were crossed that it would work out. Thankfully, for the sake or our newborn portrait session and the sake of his pregnant mom, Bronson was born a few weeks early. This little guy put up with me, his mom, and his grandma all prodding and poking him into various poses for hours on end! What a trooper! It was completely worth it to get these precious little photos that Mike and Kelsey can cherish for the rest of Bronson’s life. Bronson probably already looks a lot bigger even since we took these images.

Typically, a newborn session is best scheduled in the first 10 days of life. The little babies are still in that sleepy, sleepy stage of life and we can maneuver them into the cutest little poses. I tell new moms to plan on 3 hours for a newborn session. It seems like a lot, but between diaper changes, feedings, and snuggling the baby back to sleep, it can easily take up to that amount of time. I will gladly take care of your little baby during that time so that new moms can just rest. Seriously, take a nap, read a book, whatever helps you relax for a few moments during that tiring time of life!

At 10 months old, these big, gorgeous blue eyes are bound to catch attention everywhere! Seriously, look how beautiful she is!

Since Michigan is absolutely freezing right now, we did a warm indoor studio photography session and were able to capture these sweet family and baby photos.

Being a baby photographer is one of my favorite parts of my job. Once children get a little older, they know the word “cheese” and know that it means to quick paste on that fake smile! Babies crawl or walk around, exploring their world, and give me looks that tend to be as natural as it gets. I often photograph babies every three months from the time they are a newborn to the time they have their first birthday party. At the end of that first year, I custom design albums that show the babies growth during the first year of their life. They change so quickly and it is such a wonderful way to remember those tiny baby toes, fingers, and chubby cheeks and thighs! I have to say, I especially love the baby photos with the brown and pink tutu! This tutu was custom made for me to add to my stash of photography props.
