He already had a high school girlfriend, but that didn’t stop another girl named Chelsey from having a huge crush on him. Chelsey’s dream came true when her crush went to the homecoming dance with her and not his girlfriend! This is how it all began for Travis and Chelsey! Later on, Chelsey experienced a tragic loss in her family and Travis was the one who would always ask how she was doing and would do his best to get her out of the house to have fun. They spent a lot of time together and Chelsey quickly found out that Travis made her the happiest that she had ever been in life. They fell in love fast and now Chelsey is marrying that boy she had a crush on in high school!

They are saying their vows in June of 2012 in their hometown of Fort Morgan, Colorado at Longmeadow Event Center. We met at Barr Lake State Park for their sunset engagement session. Even though the wind was blowing so hard that we could hardly hear each other speak, we managed to capture beautiful photos that show the deep love between them.

Chelsey, how did Travis propose to you?

We went to Breckenridge, Colorado for the weekend. After spending the day walking around, we went back to our room. I started reading a Cosmopolitan magazine when he came into the room and told me to come look at the city lights from our balcony. When I walked out he had “I Melt” by the Rascal Flatts playing (we danced to that song at our high school homecoming dance.) We danced on the balcony and after the song ended he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife!

Chelsey, what do you love most about Travis?

I love how easy going he is. No matter the situation, he is always the one to say, “don’t worry everything will be okay”. He has always been there for me, to hear me cry, to listen to me when I am mad, and to share my joys, hopes and dreams. I love how he makes me feel so comfortable. I have never been more comfortable to be myself around anyone! I love how he makes me laugh, even if I am in the worst mood, he can always bring a smile to my face. I love how appreciative he is, even of the small things. I love how he is around my family. He has made an incredible bond with my family and that to me means more than anything. I love how he loves me. He makes me the happiest I have ever been. I catch him staring and smiling at me, he tells me he’s the luckiest guy to have me, but the truth is, I am the lucky one.

Travis, what do you love most about Chelsey?

I love how loving and caring she is. She puts family and closest loved ones first and would do anything for them. I love how passionate she is in everything she does, no matter what it is she always gives her all. I also love how amazing she is with children. We both want several kids and I know she is going to be the best mother imaginable. I love that pretty smile of hers! No matter how tough the day was, coming home to her beautiful face brightens my mood. She is the love of my life and makes me the happiest man alive. I love her with all my heart and I am truly blessed to have her in my life.

If you have kids in the future, what advice would you give your kids about waiting for the right “one”?

We think as a parents knowing your child found someone to love and spend the rest of their life with would be one of life’s greatest joys. We would want them to know that sometimes good things take time and they shouldn’t feel rushed or pressured to find love. We want our kids to know that they should never settle for less than they deserve – find someone who will treat them with respect, love them, care for them, and be willing to go to the ends of the Earth for them.

What is a dream that you have for your marriage together?

Above all we dream that we have a long, happy marriage, and to raise a beautiful family. We cant wait for the days when we have a bunch of little Travis’s and Chelsey’s running around everywhere!

Eleven years ago, a new relationship began between two young adults. Tan and Huyen. Although they lived on opposite sides of the state from each other,they decided that they wanted to put in the effort that is required for a long distance relationship. During these years, they have experienced the highs and lows that any relationship goes through. They said the key to their relationship lasting is that they always work things out between each other. They are willing to put in the hard work that is required to have a relationship that is deep and fulfilling. Huyen currently works as a pharmacist and Tan finished at the University of Michigan as an engineer and now works for American Axle.

On October 22, 2011 they will celebrate as husband and wife with a beautiful traditional Vietnamese Asian wedding in Michigan. For their engagement session, we met at a historical covered bridge at sunrise. The dew was still fresh on the ground and color on the trees was vibrant. They wore traditional Vietnamese clothing for their session and I just love the bright green colors of their traditional Vietnamese clothing! Most people choose to do a sunset engagement photo session over the sunrise hour, but the lighting was so beautiful during this morning session that I think I am going to be tempted to do it more often! Who wants to get up early?!?!?

Huyen told me that the morning was very romantic and fun for them. In our communication since their engagement session, she has told me, “Now it is time for us to share our lives together and being another journey as one.” I hope your marriage is everything you have ever dreamed of and that your new life together as husband and wife is fun, adventurous, romantic, and that you continue to put in the hard work that is required!

Zach and Erin fell in love and are getting married this August at Thornapple Pointe Golf Club. They have known each other for over 12 years, but all of a sudden this year, they fell head over heels for each other and knew that marriage was in their near future. It is funny how things work sometimes! Ten years ago, Zach’s sister Bree married Erin’s brother Michael. Now the two families are getting ready to celebrate again as members of each family are getting married. Crazy and so fun! I am thrilled that I get to be part of it!

I will be flying home from Denver for their wedding. It brings me so much joy to know that soon after, Zach and Erin will be moving to Denver to join Matt and I in our church planting adventures. We are so excited to have them partner with us and to be our friends in a new city. Zach and Erin are taking a huge risk and leaving their friends, family, jobs, and comfortable lives behind to join in a bigger mission. Get ready for an adventure guys! I am so excited to see what God has in store for you as you follow His calling on your life.

For their engagement session, we did a stylized photo shoot with a vintage blue themed picnic in a dirty alley. I absolutely LOVE it! Zach and Erin are very stylish people. Couples almost always ask me what they should wear for their engagement shoots. Now I’m going to say, just look at Zach and Erin’s photos!
